Recommended Process for Builders

For builders wanting to build greener, we have developed a streamlined 3-step process, which we call GreenerVision:

  1. Benchmark. Work with our CEAs to evaluate your current building plans and practices for energy efficiency and find out where you can improve.
  2. Optimize. Make incremential changes to your plans and practices, and improve the EnerGuide rating of your homes.
  3. Certify. Once you're building energy efficient homes, continue to improve by adding more environmentallly responsible components to your plans and practices, and start labelling your homes as Built Green or R-2000.

We've put together an easy-to-understand overview of what's involved in each step.

Understanding the Programs

Building green means making smart choices in the design and construction of a home.

Green labelling programs such as Built Green help guide these choices. Designed by industry and backed by government, these programs give practical, tangible choices for builders who want to build green.
